Toby English

Last updated: 27 August 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information the Toby English app collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. Toby English is operated by Sentinel Edge Cybersecurity LLC ("we", "us"). By using the app, you agree to the practices described here.

Toby English is an English speaking-practice app. You record yourself speaking, and the app converts your speech to text, corrects it, and reads the correction back to you. The sections below describe the data this involves.

Who this app is for

Toby English is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at the address below so we can remove it.

Information we collect

We collect only what is needed to provide the practice service:

We do not collect your location or your contacts. We never receive or store your payment card details. Toby English does not show advertising.

How we use your information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

How your information is processed and shared

To deliver these features, Toby English relies on the following service providers, and shares with them only what each one needs:

We share your information with these providers only to operate the app, and with no one else except where required by law. We do not sell your personal information.

How long we keep your data

We keep your account and practice data for as long as your account exists, so that your history is available to you. When you delete your account, your account record, practice history and stored audio are deleted from our active systems immediately, and are removed from routine backups within 30 days. We may retain a minimal record of a transaction where we are required to do so by law or by Google Play's billing requirements.

Deleting your account and data

You can delete your Toby English account and all data associated with it at any time. There are two ways to do it:

What is deleted: your account identity (phone number or Google name and email), your name or nickname, every voice recording, all practice text and corrections, your practice history, your learning preferences, and your progress and streak.

What is kept, and for how long: deleted data is removed from routine backups within 30 days. Where a subscription payment has been made, a minimal transaction record may be retained for as long as tax and billing law requires. Anonymous, aggregated usage statistics that cannot be linked back to you may be retained.

Cancelling a subscription is separate from deleting your account. You can cancel at any time in the Google Play Store, under Payments and subscriptions.

Security

Your data is transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections and stored on Google Cloud infrastructure. While no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

Your choices

Recording is the core function of the app, so the app requests microphone access. You can decline or revoke this permission in your device settings, though the practice feature will not work without it. Notifications are optional and can be turned off in the app under Profile, or in your device settings. You can remove all of your data at any time by deleting your account.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes may also be communicated within the app.
